Aerospace Testing Lab Accelerates Structural Validation Using 3-Axis Force Sensors

AeroTest Dynamics, an independent aerospace materials and structures laboratory, has upgraded its load-frame and fatigue-testing cells with high-capacity 3-axis force sensors. The move supports more realistic multi-directional loading simulations required by next-generation aircraft and satellite components.

 

Traditional single-axis load cells required multiple sequential tests to approximate complex force environments. The new 3-axis sensors capture simultaneous axial, shear, and moment-related forces in a single run, cutting test time by nearly 50% while improving data fidelity.

 

“Our customers demand accurate representation of real-world flight loads,” explained James Okonkwo, Laboratory Director. “These 3-axis force sensors let us apply and measure combined loading conditions that previously demanded elaborate fixturing or multiple setups.”

 

AeroTest has already used the upgraded capability on several composite wing-section and propulsion-mount programs and reports strong interest from both commercial aviation and space-sector clients.
