Precision Robotics Manufacturer Boosts Assembly Accuracy with 3-Axis Force Sensors

2026-06-09

Leading collaborative robot specialist Apex Robotics announced today that integrating high-resolution 3-axis force sensors into its latest assembly-line cobots has delivered measurable gains in quality and throughput at multiple automotive electronics plants.

The multi-axis sensors provide real-time force feedback along X, Y, and Z axes, enabling the robots to detect subtle contact forces during delicate component insertion and connector mating. Early adopters report a 40% reduction in scrap rates caused by misalignment or excessive force, together with faster cycle times.

“Previous single-axis solutions couldn’t capture shear and lateral forces that often cause hidden defects,” said Maria Chen, VP of Engineering at Apex Robotics. “The 3-axis force sensors give our systems the tactile sensitivity needed for next-generation electronics assembly.”

Apex is now standardizing the sensors across its new product line and expects wider deployment in consumer-electronics and medical-device manufacturing throughout 2026.
